JEFF DAILEY WINS DUAL MEET, SETS COURSE RECORD
CRESSON, pa -- La Roche Men's Cross Country fell to Mount Aloysius 22-37 in a dual meet. Despite the loss, the Redhawks showed grit and determination on a hilly cross country course. La Roche junior Jeff Dailey won the race by twenty seconds over Mt. Aloysius runner Tyler Thomas. Dailey and Thomas were neck-and-neck through two miles, but Dailey used an uphill in the second mile to create space and a final surge over the last mile put it away. Dailey, who set the course record, won the race for the third consecutive year. Dom Clayton, Matt Bopp, and Brandon Schrecengost each ran their personal bests on the 5K course and Noumouke Oulare completed the race despite severe shin pain. On the women's side, Freshman Alecia Kidder finished second out of nine runners and Hillary Sandzimier finished fifth. La Roche male finishers (out of 13 runners): 1st place Jeff Dailey (jr.) 17:57; 5th place Dominique Clayton (soph.) 20:04; 8th place Matt Bopp (fr.) 21:43; 10th place Brandon Schrecengost (fr.) 22:49; 13th place Noumouke Oulare (jr.) 28:52; La Roche female finishers (out of 9 runners): 2nd place Alicia Kidder (fr.) 24:03; 5th place Hillary Sandzimier (sr.) 26:43
