CRESSON, PA – #5 La Roche Softball (16-17) opened the AMCC Tournament with an 8-1 loss to #4 Penn State Altoona at Ward Softball Field (Mt. Aloysius College).

Starting pitcher, Kara Jo Egelsky, threw all six innings allowing eight runs on fifteen hits while striking out none and walking none.

First baseman, Kelsey Deem, reached base twice and recorded the Lady Redhawks lone RBI. Right fielder, Chelsea Faynor, went 1 for 2 with a walk and scored La Roche's only run.

Penn State Altoona pitcher, Jackie Smith, allowed one run on five hits in seven innings to record the win. Smith also finished with three hits and scored three times.

The Lady Redhawks will play the loser of the D'Youville/Penn State Behrend game tomorrow, May 7 at 9:00AM in the double-elimination tournament.
