Lady Redhawks Fall in Conference Opener

GREENSBURG, PA – La Roche College Softball (7-7, 0-2) dropped both games of a double-header to Pitt-Greensburg (10-8, 6-2) 8-1, 3-2 in their AMCC Conference opener on Tuesday.

Game 1 starting pitcher, Deanna Tritinger, struck out 4 batters and allowed 8 runs (7 earned runs) in 6 innings of work. Kimberly McLay and Kaylee Zozos finished with 2 hits each and Deanna Tritinger drew 2 walks. Jennifer Lentz scored for the Lady Redhawks and Zozos provided an RBI.

La Roche took an early lead in Game 2. Alexandra Spain reached base on a double and was singled home by Kiersten Lorditch to take a 1-0 lead. Pitt-Greensburg answered with three runs in the third inning and were on the verge of scoring again, but Ashley Crnkovich and Kimberly McLay teamed up to throw the runner out at the plate. The Lady Redhawks cut the deficit to one run and were threatening to tie it before three consecutive flyouts ended it.

Mareya Justice tossed all 6 innings of Game 2 and allowed just 3 runs on 10 hits. Alexandra Spain reached base twice with a double and run scored. Kiersten Lorditch went 1 for 3 with a RBI and Kaylee Zozos scored a run. Ashley Crnkovich got on base twice in the loss.

The Lady Redhawks will look to rebound when they host Hilbert College on Saturday at 1:00PM. The Hawks come into the game winners of two straight.
