Haluska Hits Grand Slam in Split With Ursuline
PEPPER PIKE, OH – Kacey Haluska hit a grand-slam home run as La Roche Softball (12-12) split a pair of games with Ursuline College (10-22) 6-4 (W), 7-6 (L) in non-conference action on Friday.
The Lady Redhawks scored 3 seventh inning runs to take Game One 6-4. La Roche recorded five consecutive two-out hits in the seventh including RBI doubles by Kayle Zozos and Jodi Walsh.
Jennifer Lentz went 3 for 4 with an RBI and scored twice and Kayle Zozos scored 3 runs while adding 2 hits and an RBI. Alex Spain recorded 2 hits and Deanna Tritinger reached base 4 times and had 2 RBI. Tritinger got the win while allowing just 1 earned run in 7 innings of work.
Haluska hit her second-career home run and first ever grand slam in the Lady Redhawks' 7-6 Game Two loss. La Roche trailed 7-0 but the grand slam brought the Lady Redhawks within three runs in the fourth inning. La Roche would add a run each in the fifth and sixth innings and loaded the bases in the seventh before a strikeout and flyout ended it.
Haluska finished with a double and grand slam while Alex Spain had 3 hits and scored. Kaylee Zozos and Jodi Walsh had 2 hits and Deanna Tritinger reached base 3 times. Cyana Wulfers threw 3 2/3 scoreless innings of relief in the losing effort.
