PITTSBURGH, PA – La Roche Softball (2-10) fell to Juniata College (5-7) 6-2, 6-3 in a non-conference double-header on Thursday night.
Deanna Tritinger got the Game 1 start and allowed 5 runs on 6 hits in 5 innings of work while Ashley DeVito gave up a run (no earned runs) in 2 innings of relief.
Kaylee Zozos went 2 for 2 with a double, run scored, walk, and swiped a base. Amber Steenbeke had an RBI single and doubled and Nicole Fievet had an RBI single and stolen base. Elizabeth Palumbo scored a run in the Game 1 loss.
McLay singled home Jodi Walsh and Alex Bauer followed with an RBI double to give the Lady Redhawks a 2-0 second inning advantage before Juniata fought back for the Game 2 win.
McLay went 2 for 3 with a RBI and scored and Bauer had an RBI double. Alex Spain finished with 2 hits and knocked in a run and Jodi Walsh stole a base and scored. Elizabeth Palumbo registered 2 hits and scored for the Lady Redhawks.
Starting pitcher Kaylee Girdwood allowed 5 runs on 7 hits and struck out 4 in 4 1/3 innings. DeVito threw 1 2/3 innings of shutout softball and Cyana Wulfers gave up 1 run on 2 hits.
The Lady Redhawks return to AMCC Conference play on Saturday when they travel to Hilbert College. La Roche swept the Hawks last season 11-3, 13-8.
