HAMBURG, NY -- Alex Bauer hit her first-career home run and Ashley DeVito notched a shutout as La Roche Softball (3-11, 1-3) split with Hilbert College (3-11, 1-3) 8-2 (L), 8-0 (W) in AMCC Conference play on Saturday.
Deanna Tritinger got the Game 1 start and allowed 5 earned runs while stricking out 4 in 4 innings of work and Ashley DeVito threw a perfect sixth and seventh innings in the loss.
Jodi Walsh went 2 for 3 with an RBI and Kim McLay had an RBI single. Alex Spain registered 2 hits and Amber Steenbeke and Jennifer Lentz scored runs.
The Lady Redhawks scored 6 runs over the first three innings of Game 2 and then added two more in the sixth inning to initiate the mercy rule.
Lea Kronz opened the game with a lead-off walk and scored when Steenbeke lined a two-out single into right field to take a 1-0 lead. Bauer followed with a shot into the right field gap to score Zozos before Steenbeke stole home.
The Lady Redhawks added two more runs in the second inning on RBI singles by McLay and Kaylee Zozos and Bauer connected on her first career home run in the third inning. DeVito kept the Hawks scoreless before Zozos' 2-run double ended it.
DeVito notched her first complete game shutout and gave up just 4 hits while striking out 6 batters.
Zozos went 3 for 4 with a double, 3 RBI, and a run and Bauer singled to go along with her home run. Kronz and McLay scored twice each and Katelyn Whitmore chipped in a run in her first collegiate start. McLay added an RBI single for the Lady Redhawks.
La Roche Softball will host Chatham University on Monday for an AMCC vs. PAC double-header. Lea Kronz and Jennifer Lentz each had 2 RBI in a 7-5 win over Chatham last season.
