Jennings Hits Game Winner as Lady Redhawks Prevail
PITTSBURGH, PA -- Chantelle Jennings knocked-down a three-pointer with seven seconds left in regulation as the Lady Redhawks (18-4, 13-2) topped Penn St. Behrend (15-6, 11-4) 54-53 in AMCC Conference play. The win is their eighth straight and completes a season sweep of the Lady Lions.
The Lady Redhawks hit nine of their first sixteen field goal attempts to run out to a 28-16 lead at the 3:48 mark of the first half before Penn State Behrend stormed back. The Lady Lions ended the half on a 10-4 run to cut the deficit to six.
Penn State Behrend continued to chip away at La Roche's lead in the second half by attacking the rim. They drew eleven fouls in the second half and went 15 for 21 from the foul line.
The Lady Lions took their first lead of the game at the 7:22 mark of the second half and continued to hold the lead until Jennings' late heroics.
Jennings finished with a game-high 21 points on 8 of 20 shooting and Jessica Pitts recorded her seventh career double-double (11 points, 11 rebounds). Chloe' Stewart had a season-high seven assists for the Lady Redhawks.
Penn St. Behrend center, Holly Bourquin, finished with a double-double (11 points, 11 rebounds) in the loss.
The Lady Redhawks will travel to Pitt-Bradford (13-6, 11-3) on Saturday, February 12 at 1:00PM. La Roche fell to the Panthers 64-60 on January 15 at the Kerr Fitness Center.
