PITTSBURGH, PA – Chloe' Stewart scored her 1000th career point as La Roche women's basketball (19-4, 16-0) defeated Pitt-Bradford (9-14, 7-9) 77-51 on senior day at the Kerr Fitness Center. The win clinches at least a share of the AMCC Conference Regular Season Championship and guarantees home court advantage in the AMCC Tournament.
The Lady Redhawks only deficit of the game came after a free throw gave Pitt-Bradford a 1-0 lead. La Roche answered with a 12-2 run and created points off of turnovers to break the game open.
Jessica Pitts led La Roche with 19 points, 7 rebounds, and 7 steals and Dierca Blackwell added 12 points and 7 rebounds. Stewart finished with 12 points, 5 steals, and 4 assists and Amanda Garland contributed 6 steals and 4 assists. Ariel Green had a game-high 6 assists on her senior day.
The Lady Redhawks assisted on 18 of 31 field goals and forced thirty turnovers for the tenth time this season.
Stewart, last week's AMCC Conference Player of the Week, is the sixth Lady Redhawk to break 1000 points in her career. Her former teammate, Chantelle Jennings, accomplished the feat two seasons ago.
La Roche women's basketball will try for their tenth consecutive win when they travel to Franciscan University on Wednesday. Casie Cygan hit a school record eight 3-pointers in a thirty-one point win over the Barons on January 16.
