La Roche women's tennis player, Melanie Ward, has been named the AMCC Conference Player of the Week for her spectacular play in the conference tournament this weekend.

Melanie went 4-0 in the AMCC semis and finals to lead the Lady Redhwaks to their historic 1st ever AMCC title. She teamed with Doria Shima at #3 doubles to get wins against Franciscan on Saturday and Penn State Behrend in the Sunday final. At #6 singles Melanie defeated Lucia Neugebauer of Franciscan 7-6 (8-6), 6-2 in the semi-finals, and then beat Casey Smith 6-1, 4-6, 6-1 in the title match.

Melanie is the second Lady Redhawk to win the award this season and the fourth in the past 2 years.
