PITTSBURGH, Pa. - La Roche men's basketball took the short trip to Carlow on Wednesday and went to work, taking down the Celtics, 89-65, to improve to 2-1 in AMCC play.
The score was close to even over the first five minutes of play, as it was the Redhawks holding a slight 13-12 edge. However, over the next 6:30 of play, La Roche locked in, outscoring Carlow, 18-6 to open up a 31-18 lead.
The Celtics followed with a 9-0 run of their own to trim the deficit to 31-27 with 5:44 remaining, but the final five minutes belonged to the red and white, scoring 11 of the final 16 points to take a 42-32 lead into the half.
The Redhawks opened the lead up some more in the first five minutes of the second half, scoring 16 of 23 points to build a 58-39 edge, and from that point on, the margin never dipped below 16 points, as La Roche rolled to the victory.
La Roche shot incredibly well on the night, hitting 34-of-63 (54%) from the field, 10-of-23 (43.5%) from deep, but the lone struggle was the free-throw line, making 11-of-25 (44%).
Carlow would go on to shoot 40% (24-for-60) from the floor, 29.2% (7-for-24) from three and hit 10-for-16 from the foul line (62.5%).
Logan Golle was the leading scorer on the night, netting 18 points on 6-for-9 shooting and 3-for-5 from deep, while adding seven rebounds and four assists.
Bryce Epps followed with 17 points, seven rebounds and five assists, while Major Rainey was the third starter in double-figures with 14 points, four rebounds and four blocks.
Jefferson "Boogie" Moorefield-Brown was the final player in double digits, scoring 11 off the bench.
La Roche looks to improve to 3-1 in the AMCC on Saturday, as they travel to take on the defending AMCC Champions from Pitt-Bradford at 4 p.m.
