BRADFORD, Pa. – In a makeup of Saturday's postponement, La Roche men's basketball traveled to face Pitt-Bradford on Monday night, but in a run and gun matchup, fell just short, 102-96.
It was all Redhawks in the first 7:30 of the first half, as the red and white were holding onto a 22-10 lead.
Three short minutes later, a 17-3 catapulted the Panthers ahead, 27-25, but La Roche leaded back ahead over the next 7:30 to take a 49-36 lead with 1:32 remaining in the first half.
Bradford closed out the final stretch strong, using a 9-2 run to trail just 51-45 at the break.
The Redhawks held its ground the opening five minutes of the second half, but with 14:54 to go, the Panthers fought back to regain the lead, 66-65.
Over the next six minutes, Bradford stormed ahead, scoring 22 of 31 points to build a 14-point, 88-74 edge on the red and white.
La Roche battled back late and with just 1:02 remaining, cut the deficit down to 96-94, but the Panthers were able to hold on down the stretch.
On the night, the Redhawks shot a fantastic, 39-for-64 from the floor (60.9%), 5-for-13 from three (38.5%) and 13-for-15 from the foul line (86.7%).
Bradford ended the game shooting 48.8% (39-for-80), 39.1% from deep (9-for-23) and 15-for-17 at the free-throw stripe (88.2%).
Major Rainey continued his stretch of incredible play, shooting a remarkable, 15-for-19 from the floor, netting 30 points on the night, a game-high.
Bryce Epps followed, shooting 6-for-9, for 15 points to go alongside six rebounds.
Cooper Rankin also shot 70% from the field for 14 points with four rebounds and seven assists, while Jefferson "Boogie" Moorefield-Brown hit for 13 points and six rebounds off the bench.
Logan Golle was the fifth player in double-figures, scoring 12 points to go along with eight assists.
The men are back in action on Friday, Dec. 19 at 5 pm when they host Washington & Jefferson to close the 2025 portion of the schedule.
