Redhawks Roll Continues With Eighth In A Row

PITTSBURGH, Pa. - After an early push and a tough end of the first half, La Roche buckled down in the second half to add another win to the victory column, defeating Mt. Aloysius, 94-75.

After an even opening five minutes, in which the Redhawks held a 14-12 lead, La Roche used the next seven minutes to open a commanding, 39-22 lead.

Down the final stretch of the first half, the Mounties pushed back and scored 23 of the final 33 points of the half to cut the Redhawks lead to just 49-45 at the break.

Out of the locker room, Mount officially crawled all the way back, tying the game at 53-53 with 15:18 remaining in regulation.

The Redhawks locked back in, using a 12-0 run to rebuuild the double-digit edge and an overall, 26-9 run, propelling themselves back to a 79-62 lead with 6:42 to go in the game.

It was coast mode from that point for the red and white, as the lead never dipped below 12 at any point down the stretch, sealing the victory.

For the night, the Redhawks shot 33-for-62 from the field (63.5%), 12-for-23 from deep (52.2%) and 16-for-22 from the foul line (72.7%).

On the other side, the Mounties finished 31-for-60 from the floor (51.7%), 4-for-11 from three (36.4%) and 9-for-15 from the charity stripe (60%).

Three players scored in double figures for La Roche, all of which scored 20+ points, led by the reigning AMCC Player of the Week, Major Rainey, scoring a game-high 26 points on 10-for-14 shooting from the floor and 3-for-5 from three, going alongside six rebounds.

Bryce Epps followed with 24 points, including 20 in the first half, shooting 8-for-12 from the floor, with six rebounds, six assists and a pair of steals, while Cooper Rankin netted 20 points on 8-for-10 shooting, also snagging six rebounds, five assists and a pair of steals.

The Redhawks have three of their final four games on the road and a road trip to Altoona is up next on Saturday, Feb. 7 for a 4 pm tip.
