Redhawks Fall To Hilbert

Redhawks Fall To Hilbert

PITTSBURGH, Pa. - La Roche men's lacrosse welcomed Hilbert on Wednesday afternoon, but were unable to get past the Hawks, falling, 14-3.

Hilbert wasted no time setting the tone. Three early goals in the first quarter put La Roche on its heels before the defense could settle in. Despite the early surge, La Roche found a moment of response late in the quarter when Stephan Mescan broke through with an unassisted goal, cutting the deficit to 3–1 and giving the Redhawks a spark of life.

But the second quarter proved to be the turning point.

Hilbert poured in five more goals in a relentless stretch, capitalizing on possessions and winning faceoffs to control the pace. Every time La Roche looked to regroup, Hilbert answered with another strike. The deficit ballooned to 8–1, and La Roche struggled to generate sustained offensive pressure, managing just a handful of shots in the period.

Still, La Roche continued to fight.

In the third quarter, Yuri Nelson delivered a highlight for the Redhawks, scoring off an assist from Lebron James to make it 10–2. It was a well-earned moment, showing La Roche's ability to connect offensively even against heavy pressure. However, Hilbert continued to execute efficiently, adding another goal to maintain control heading into the final period.

The fourth quarter followed a similar pattern. Hilbert extended its lead with three more goals, pushing the margin out of reach. Yet La Roche kept competing until the final whistle. On a man-up opportunity, Goran Miloradovic converted off a pass from Stephan Mescan, adding the team's third goal and closing the scoring at 14–3.
