PITTSBURGH, Pa. - La Roche closed out its season at home looking to finish on a strong note, but a fast start from Hilbert proved too much to overcome as the Redhawks fell 11–2.
Hilbert wasted little time setting the tone, striking twice in the opening minutes behind a dominant performance from Kristopher Newman. La Roche answered midway through the first quarter when Goran Miloradovic found the back of the net off an assist from Yuri Nelson, briefly cutting the deficit to 2–1 and injecting some energy into the Redhawks' sideline. However, Hilbert responded just 42 seconds later to regain a two-goal cushion and never looked back.
The second quarter was where the game began to slip away. Despite a few defensive stops and four saves from goalkeeper Calvin Rowland in the period, La Roche struggled to maintain possession and generate offense. Hilbert added two late goals in the quarter—both from Newman—to take a 5–1 lead into halftime.
Out of the break, La Roche searched for momentum but found it difficult to break through Hilbert's defense. The Redhawks were held without a shot in the third quarter while Hilbert continued to capitalize, adding three more goals to extend the lead to 8–1. Faceoff struggles and turnovers continued to hinder La Roche's ability to settle into any offensive rhythm, finishing the game with just four faceoff wins and 32 turnovers.
Rowland remained a bright spot despite the scoreline, finishing with 12 saves while facing 23 shots on goal. Defensively, Moses Andrawes and Stephan Mescan helped anchor the unit with key ground balls and caused turnovers, but extended defensive possessions—fueled by Hilbert's 42–22 ground ball advantage—kept La Roche under constant pressure.
In the fourth quarter, Hilbert added another early goal before La Roche found one final breakthrough. Logan McQueen scored unassisted with just over four minutes remaining, giving the Redhawks their second goal of the afternoon and a moment to build on. Hilbert closed the game with two more goals in the final minutes to seal the 11–2 result.
Miloradovic and McQueen accounted for La Roche's scoring, while Nelson picked up the team's lone assist. Offensively, the Redhawks generated 11 shots but were limited to just three on goal against a disciplined Hilbert defense.
The loss caps a challenging season for La Roche at 0–11. While the record doesn't reflect the effort shown throughout the year, the final game echoed many of the team's season-long hurdles—possession battles, turnovers, and difficulty sustaining offensive pressure. Still, the experience gained by a young roster provides a foundation as the program looks ahead to regroup and grow moving forward.
