Redhawks Light Up Carlow In Dominant Victory

PITTSBURGH, Pa. - La Roche women's basketball took control from the start in Wednesday night's victory over Carlow, which included a dominant second half, leading to an 88-36 victory over the Celtics.

The first 3:30 of the first quarter was the closest the game would be with the score sitting tied at 8-8. The remainder of the opening frame was all La Roche, outscoring Carlow, 15-4 and took a 23-12 lead into the second quarter.

The second quarter would be the closest frame of the four, with the Redhawks taking the 10-minute frame by a score of 16-14, adding to its lead, while taking a 39-26 edge into the half.

The domination began in the third quarter, as La Roche opened the frame with a 16-0 run, forced 14 Celtic turnovers, including nine forced turnovers on the first nine Carlow possessions of the quarter, all while holding the opposition to six points, taking a commanding, 63-32 lead into the fourth.

The fourth quarter was much of the same, as the Redhawks forced 10 more turnovers and limited the Celtics to just two made field goals, coasting tho the victory.

La Roche shot 50% on the night (35-for-70), 45% from three (9-for-20) and capitalized on 9-for-12 free throws (75%).

The Redhawks thwarted the Celtics, as Carlow shot 12-for-59 (20.3%) from the floor, 5-for-27 (18.5%) from deep and 7-for-11 (63.6%) from the foul line.

The stat sheet was filled by La Roche, with Jazmine Dunn leading the way, picking up a double-double with 24 points, seven rebounds, 11 assists and four steals.

J'La Kizart followed with her first career double-double, scoring 20 points, collecting a career-high 10 rebounds, five assists and eight steals.

Nautica Burwell posted 13 points, five rebounds and a pair of steals, followed by Kaitlyn Nease with 12 points, five rebounds, five steals and eight blocks.

Emily Fisher also hit for double figures, scoring 11 points, three rebounds, six assists and two steals.

The Redhawks look to keep the hot stretch going and improve to 4-0 in AMCC play when they travel to Pitt-Bradford on Saturday for a 2 p.m. tip.
