PITTSBURGH, PA — La Roche University used a dominant performance in the second half to earn an 81–59 victory over Mount Aloysius College in a key AMCC women's basketball matchup Wednesday evening at the Kerr Fitness & Sports Center.
The game started evenly, with both teams trading baskets and defensive stops through the early minutes. By the end of the first quarter, La Roche held a slim 13–13 tie, showcasing the competitive spirit of both rosters.
But the Redhawks began to assert themselves in the second quarter. Behind strong offensive execution and balanced scoring, La Roche outscored the Mounties 22–13 to take firm control at halftime. From there, La Roche continued to build momentum, pushing the lead to double digits by halftime and maintaining that advantage through the third quarter.
In the second half, La Roche's depth and efficiency shone. The Redhawks steadily increased their margin, outscoring Mount Aloysius in both the third and fourth quarters and eventually cruising to an 81–59 win. La Roche shot efficiently throughout, particularly in the paint and on transition, while also converting key possessions that allowed them to stay firmly in front.
Catherine Kelly's 25 points and eight rebounds led the way for the Redhawks, while Nautica Burwell chipped in 17 and J'La Kizart and Jazmine Dunn both hit for 16 points.
