ERIE, Pa. - La Roche women's basketball saw its 2025-26 campaign come to a conclusion in the AMCC Tournament Semifinal on Saturday, falling victim to Penn State Altoona, 70-57.
It was all Redhawks the opening two minutes, storming out to a 7-0 lead. However, the offense would go ice cold, hitting just one shot from the floor and four free-throws the remainder of the quarter, being outscored, 17-6, trailing 17-13 heading into the second quarter.
La Roche opened the second pushing to regain the lead, 21-19, in the first 2:05, but allowed a 7-0 run to fall behind, 26-21. The lead was regained down the final stretch of the first half, but a 5-2 stretch for Altoona closed the half and the Lions led 31-29.
Out of the break, the La Roche offense went ice cold again, falling behind by as many as 13 points, while being limited to just five made field goals and entered the fourth down 52-43.
Altoona would open the fourth quarter with a 6-0 spurt to take a 15-point lead and never allowed the red and white to come within single digits to take the victory.
Jazmine Dunn was one of two leading scorers in the game, finishing her Redhawk career with a 14 point, three rebound, six assist effort.
J'La Kizart matched Dunn with 14 points to go alongside eight rebounds and four steals, while Nautica Burwell finished her career with 13 points, followed by 10 points and five rebounds from Catherine Kelly.
La Roche ends the 2025-26 campaign with a 14-12 overall record and were 14-2 in AMCC play under first-year coach, Alexiss Griggs. The Redhawks lose Dunn and Burwell, but return starters in Kelly, Kizart and Nease, while also returning four others off the bench.
