Redhawks Roll Past Geneva

BEAVER FALLS, PA — The La Roche University women's lacrosse team picked up a convincing 8-2 victory over Geneva College in its latest road test, improving to 2-0 on the young 2026 season.

La Roche struck early, with Madalynn Dembrowski opening the scoring just past the midpoint of the first quarter. The Redhawks kept Geneva on its heels, adding a second goal before the Tornadoes rallied back with two quick answers to knot the contest at 2-2. But La Roche responded swiftly — and emphatically.

Senior standout Alecia D'Urso helped ignite the decisive run, tallying three goals on the afternoon and finishing with five points. Kiki Nemcek added a pair of goals, while Jaina Ilko also found the back of the net in the first half to give La Roche a 5-2 lead at the break.

The Redhawks controlled the second half, adding a goal in the third quarter and two more in the fourth to seal the outcome. La Roche's defense, anchored by goalie Julianna Hornikel, limited Geneva's opportunities and forced turnovers that led to transition chances for the visitors.

La Roche finished with 21 shots and 14 on goal, showcasing a balanced attack and strong possession play. Geneva, meanwhile, was held to 12 shots with five on goal, its scoring coming exclusively from junior Mara Fowlow, who netted both Tornadoes goals early in the first quarter.

With today's win, the Redhawks continue their early season momentum and will look to carry this performance forward as conference play approaches.
