HIRAM, Ohio - The La Roche University women's lacrosse team delivered a dominant performance on the road Wednesday night, rolling to a 17–1 victory over Hiram.
La Roche took control early when Kiki Nemcek opened the scoring midway through the first quarter with an unassisted goal. Alecia D'Urso followed with another tally to give the Redhawks a 2–0 lead before Hiram scored its lone goal late in the opening period.
The Redhawks broke the game open in the second quarter, scoring seven times. D'Urso led the charge with four goals in the period, including two off assists from Jaina Ilko. Additional goals from Nicole Schroeder and Madalynn Dembrowski helped La Roche take a commanding 9–1 halftime lead.
La Roche continued to build the advantage in the second half. Nemcek and Finnleigh Gould scored early in the third quarter, while six more Redhawk goals in the fourth sealed the decisive win.
D'Urso paced the offense with five goals, while Nemcek added four goals and controlled the midfield with seven draw controls and a game-high 10 ground balls. Schroeder finished with two goals and an assist, and Ilko contributed three assists.
Defensively, La Roche held Hiram to just three shots in the entire contest. Goalkeeper Julianna Hornikel played all 60 minutes and made two saves to earn the win.
The Redhawks outshot Hiram 40–3 and controlled possession throughout, collecting 30 ground balls and forcing 32 turnovers in the victory.
