Redhawks Fall On Road To Marietta

MARIETTA, Ohio - La Roche battled through a difficult road matchup, falling 15–2 to Marietta despite a determined effort and strong stretches of play.

Marietta set the tone early, scoring three times in the opening quarter, including an unassisted strike from Mallory Wiles and a pair of quick follow-ups that put La Roche in an early 3–0 hole. La Roche struggled to find its offensive rhythm in the first, managing limited opportunities against a fast-starting Marietta defense.

The second quarter showed signs of life for La Roche. After Marietta extended its lead to 4–0, Nicole Schroeder sparked the Redhawks with back-to-back unassisted goals, cutting the deficit to 4–2. The momentum briefly shifted as La Roche applied pressure and created chances, but Marietta responded with three late goals to take a 7–2 advantage into halftime.

In the second half, La Roche continued to compete defensively, with goalkeeper Julianna Hornikel recording 14 saves while facing heavy pressure. The defense caused turnovers and fought for ground balls, but Marietta's offense remained consistent, adding three goals in the third quarter and five more in the fourth.

La Roche generated six total shots, with five on goal, led by Schroeder's two goals and Alecia D'Urso's three shots on cage. The team also collected 22 ground balls and forced multiple turnovers, reflecting effort and persistence throughout the contest.
